Well, I got the driveway all shoveled and Kita and I drove down to the firehouse for the picnic table assembly project to find most everyone stayed home because of the snowstorm.

Welcome to the opening edition of the Republic Michigan News!
New content will be added through the month to the top of this post. For ease of navigating the news, a truncated post or headline will appear here with a link to the full article.
The tabs across the top of the page will take you to a list of articles from that category with a short description or headline and a link to open the full article, picture, or other feature.
Some information will not appear as news stories, but will be found by clicking the appropriate tab, such as the Business Directory, Employment, Real Estate, etc.
To the right you will find a News Archive, that will open a page like this one. When you follow the Headline Link, the page that opens will have an archive that will show each individual article that will open only that entry. Both this page and the archive page (where the actual articles are stored) are searchable via the search function located at the top right side of the page.
Links on these pages may open, for example on the Business Directory or Events pages, the business webpage, advertisements or event art, photos, etc. allowing the main page to provide basic information and remain uncluttered and easy to use.
Should this page fill up too fast (with articles shorter than this one) we will go to a weekly instead of monthly page. To read more about how to use this resource click here!

We are blessed to have a wonderful beach and riverfront here in Republic. Also, a short 10 miles up the road (and 3 miles west on Hwy 41 is Van Riper State Park which also has a beautiful beach on Lake Michigamme with camping, boat rentals, picnic areas, etc. It is a wonderful place donated to the community by Dr. Van Riper. Free access with a Michigan State Park Pass.
